Wine Cellar Special- Me Cancún

September 25, 2009 - Created for the demand for wine in “Silk” and “Salt”, the two insignia restaurants in the ultra avant-garde Hotel ME by Meliá in Cancún, the impeccable wine cellar is outstanding, and the smallest detail is taken care of to ensure it blends into the luxurious and avant-garde concept of the hotel. Located in a preferential and strategic location, with an open design in full view of everyone, and seeming to blend into the “shopping area” of the lobby, the wine cellar houses 140 different red wine labels and another 100 white wine labels in the inside of the cellar, all of which are the result of a careful selection of wines from 4 continents.

This modern and functional wine cellar is perfectly acclimatized and every day between 5:30 and 6:00 in the afternoon the expert French sommelier Maxime Mathey directs the wine tasting, accompanied by fine cheeses, free of charge to guests on “The Level” floor. Maxime is a recognized wine expert who studied in Nimes, specializing in restaurants, and his career path has taken him to several countries and hotel companies.

In both the Silk and Salt restaurants Maxime is also available to advise and recommend diners on the most appropriate wines, according to their flavours, types of grapes and the dishes chosen during the dinner. In the cellar wines as prestigious as the Petrus ’94, the Vega Sicilia Unico, Chateau Margaux, Carmelo Rodero Reserva and even an Unico Santo Tomás are noteworthy. Also competitive in fame and price are the complete range of Möet champagnes, the Dom Perignon ’99, Crystal ’2002 and Veuve Clicquot. Tequila also has its place in the cellar, including the Don Julio Real, the 1942 and the Reserva de la Familia ‘Platino’.
